Funeral set for 11AM Saturday at the Conference Center

There days that we carry what lifts us and there are days that we lift what carries us. Either way it's good to hold onto the rod.
I love you President Hinckley, you helped me make it through the most trying times of my life. Para Siempre Dios Este Con Vos...

President Hinckley will always be remembered for his tireless commitment to Temple work. When he traveled he was often greeted by crowds waving white handkerchiefs. In addition to those who will participate in the cane wave tribute, it would also be nice for others to participate by waving white handkerchiefs.

Living far from Utah I wish I could participate - I may just take a cane with me as I watch the funeral at Church on Saturday!

I love the cane and white handkerchief tribute to President Hinckley! As I am also far from Utah, I will take a white handkerchief to church as I watch the funeral.

Like Solomon of old, President Hinkley will be remembered throughout history as a great, perhaps the greatest, Temple builder of all time.
It's so comforting to know that he is now, once again, united with the girl of his dreams!

Technically, his body will lay in repose. Laying in state is a federal honor reserved for former Presidents and other high-ranking federal officials.

Not that it matters...

My husband was in the Tab Choir and Pres. Hinckley LOVED the choir and we felt it whenever he was at a broadcast or production. He was our inspiration. We'll wave our canes and handkerchief's in honor of his life.

I am happy to know that he is with his Sweetheart! Though he is certainly missed, he will never be forgotten!
I raise my cane to him!
We Thank thee, Oh God, For our prophet!

What a wonderful tribute!

Is there any place where canes could be left to be donated to a hospital or organization.... people might purchase a cane for just this occasion.

I wish I lived in Utah to be there and to help with something like this.

While a sad time for us, what a joyful time for President Hinckley, as he is finally reunited with his sweet wife, Marjorie.

President Hinckley, you will be missed greatly. Thank you for your love and example. "God be with you til we meet again"

I live in Nevada, but cannot attend. Could I get someone to maybe take TWO handkerchiefs and wave one for me? Thank you! President Hinckley was a remarkable man and will live on in the good works he did here on earth. We thank thee oh God for a Prophet! I will carry one with me here in Nevada on Saturday!! For those of us not in Utah - please carry one with you on Saturday in rememberance!

HI- what a cool idea. As a occupational therapist who works in a nursing home, I have to admit I did worry about him when I would see him not using his cane for its intended purpose.

But what a special tribute. Hope you get lots of support.

And to the person who had the suggestion to donate the canes bought for this good-bye wave, to groups that could benefit, how awesome! I am sure that would make Pres. Hinckley very pleased that someone who needs a cane can get one via this method!

A quick change:

It was announced today that he will lie in state in the conference center, not the admin building. Check KSL.com for verification.

FYI :)

One more thing, if you haven't already, you may want to consider making a facebook event out of this. It's a great way to reach a lot of people in a short amount of time.

Cheers!
